Post by Rishi1408 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 12:53 pm

Hi Frank,

Can you let me know is it possible to get the rec count of more than one file using 1 step in a jcl. If yes then How?
Thanks

Presuming that you mean Frank Yaeger, he retired some 10 months ago.

Have you looked at ICETOOL's COUNT operator? Multiple instances can be coded in the same step. Does that get you what you want?

This is an example of why you should NOT address posts to a specific person! And if you were wanting a DFSORT/ICETOOL solution what is wrong with posting in that part of the forum? You are new to the forum and presumbly to mainframes so get to know that JCL is a specific 'language' for telling the operating system what programs you want to run and what resources those programs require. Utilities, and other programs, have control 'cards' to control their behavour and it is control 'cards' that you are asking for.

Nic
