To be more clear and precise: There are some CSP files in these VSAM files. I need to get these CSP files in order to modernize them. I am trying to get these files by converting VSAM files to PDS files. Am I in the right path? I don't know. Is it even possible to get the content of a VSAM by conver...

CSP Modernisation
I am trying to convert CSP files which reside in the mainframe I work on to modern languages such as Java, Cobol or PL/I. Could anyone suggest me what to do first? Is there any tool that helps this convertion process? Or should I just understand the CSP files logic and write them in Java? Any help w...

You best souirce of info is a co-worker or support person in your organization. From where you are, it is probably not realistic to learn what you need via a forum. You need local guidance. I could not aggree with you more! I wish there was such a mentor to guide me. Unfortunately, I am the lucky(!...

well, returned was the following error for the REPRO: IEF142I VSAMTOP STEP1 - STEP WAS EXECUTED - COND CODE 0012 I would guess/since you never bothered to provide info on the vsam ds/ that your dcb for the seq file was incorrect and did not match the record size of the vsam file. or that the blocks...

When I try to access sequential file on ISPF on 3.4, it asks for: Mostly, you do not need these. . . Actually, they do not appear on the 3.4 screen. When you go to 3.4 the top of the screen should show "Data Set List Utility". If it does not, you are not using a standard configuration. If you want ...

Well, I'm confused what exactly you're trying to do raktunc? When you convert a PS to PDS, it is pre-assumed that input PS has a member name followed by the content for that member. If this is not the case, you'll get empty members. Leave all this, step back and tell us - why do you want to do this...

So, do I have to know how many members are in VSAM in order to name them. VSAM files do not have members. . . It appears this is being made difficult when it does not need to be. As there is already a sequentisl copy of the vsam data, why can you not simply look at the sequentis data via tso/ispf? ...

There ARE required control statements that you haven't shown us. To create a new PDS you need an ADD statement to define the member name: ./ ADD NAME=membername followed by the content for that member. Repeat as needed for each required member. The only DD name you need is SYSUT2 for the new PDS. S...
