WITH(5,1) produces a spliced record with a VB indicator when the key from file1 matches the key from file2. That's the indicator that we have a matching key. BB would indicate a file1 record without a match in file2. VV would indicate a file2 record without a match in file1.

You can use a DFSORT/ICETOOL job like the following to do what you asked for: //S1 EXEC PGM=ICETOOL //TOOLMSG DD SYSOUT=* //DFSMSG DD SYSOUT=* //IN1 DD DSN=... input file1 (VB/3100) //IN2 DD DSN=... input file2 (VB/3100) //T1 DD DSN=&&T1,UNIT=SYSDA,SPACE=(CYL,(5,5)),D...

Here's a DFSORT/ICETOOL job that will do what you asked for. Since you didn't give the RECFM and LRECL of your input files, or the starting position, length and format of each input and output field, I just guessed. Adjust as necessary. //S1 EXEC PGM=ICETOOL //TOOLMSG DD SYSOUT=* //DFSMSG DD SYSOUT=...

Yes the input records were actually already in sorted order. The input records you show ARE NOT in sorted order by the first four fields. Sorted order would be: 111 Sandeep gmail 60000 14-May-11 111 Sandeep gmail 60000 01-Mar-11 111 Sandeep gmail 60000 01-Feb-11 111 Sandeep gmail 60000 01-Jan-11 11...

In the above file if you look at the 3rd ,4th and 5th records, they are same execpt date. So i want to delete the 4th & 5th record. The first record is also the same, so do you really want to delete the 3rd, 4th and 5th records? You could do that with these control statements: OPTION EQUALS SORT FI...

Based on the information you sent me offline, here's a DFSORT JOINKEYS job that will do what I think you want: //S1 EXEC PGM=SORT //SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=* //IN1 DD DSN=... input file1 (FB/70) //IN2 DD DSN=... input file2 (FB/74) //SORTOUT DD DSN=... output file (FB/70) //SYSIN DD...

How to write - 'Hello world' program through JCL by passing 'hello world' as sysin data. FWIW, this DFSORT job will take Hello World from SORTIN DD * (sysin data) and write it to SORTOUT (SYSOUT output). //S1 EXEC PGM=SORT //SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=* //SORTIN DD * Hello World //SORTOUT DD SYSOUT=* //SYSIN...

Sigh. I wish you had mentioned you use Syncsort in your first post. The job I gave you works fine with DFSORT. It will NOT work with Syncsort no matter what version you have because Syncsort does NOT support some of the JOINKEYS functions I used that DFSORT does support. I'm a DFSORT developer. DFSO...

Well, I can help, but first you have to do a better job of explaining what your data looks like and what you want to do with it. Does the data consist of fields in fixed positions (e.g. alpha field is in positions 1,20 and numeric field2 is in positions 25-29)? If so, what is the starting position, ...

You can use DFSORT's JOINKEYS function for that. For some examples, see the "Create files with matching and non-matching records" Smart DFSORT Trick at: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=114&uid=isg3T7000094 If you need more specific help, please show an example of the records in each input ...

Guys please help me on this I'm in a different timezone then you are, so you have to be patient. Your explanation of what you want is quite confusing. I could have given you a better answer if you had shown exactly what you want the header and trailer to look like including the format of the date and count. But you didn't, so I'll have to guess. You can use a DFSORT job like the following to add a header and trailer: //S1 EXEC PGM=SORT //SYSOUT DD...
