I dont see an issue with declartion.

might be problem with data. In CHECK-MANAGER, CHECK-AREA contains alph-betic data.

Regarding your question on s0c7 - program gives S0C7 error when there is
invalid value in COMP-3 field. please check comp-3 field might contain invalid data.

i can suggest to write a program to rewrite the jcl before submitting it. As per my knowledge, there is no existing tool available to do this.

As per my knowledge, i dont think, jcl can read the symbolic parameters from outside.

Tell me - where you are using these symbolic parameters?

As per my understanding of your requirement - You want to expand the copy book from size 750 to 2550 bytes.

Add FILLLER PIC X(1800) at the end of the 750 byte copy book.

As per my knowledge, most of the mainframe programmer normally go for DB2 certifiation. i did not come across any certificatrions on VSAM and JCL. Certification on COBOL may be provided by brain bench.
