Job trigger vs dataset trigger

Post by goldyroshan » Tue Nov 27, 2012 12:41 am

CA7 question :-

From the cost considerations, which one is better : job trigger or dataset trigger w.r.t. CA7 scheduling?

I do not see how cost comes into this - either a job needs a predecessor job to run or a dataset to arrive not someone to go to the bank.

Nic

I do think that there is a cost consideration involved here, but since I am not sure so wanted to get this clarified. While I am aware that different types of triggers are to cater to different needs (sometimes SLA related & others), but I think there could be slight differences in execution times (for the process overall) & hence the execution costs.

As the dataset or job trigger cause the same action (submitting a job), i suspect there is little (if any) difference between the times these take to submit the job.

Suggest time be better spent ensuring the submitted jobs run as well as possible rather than how quickly they might be submitted.
Have a good one
