Scope of Mainframe

Post by krispp3mar » Wed Aug 29, 2012 11:34 am

Hi I'm having 2 years of Mainframe experience as application Developer. I'm searching for a job. But I heard from one of my senior that Mainframe is being migrated to SAP and it will loose its scope in few years.

Is it true??? Am really confused about my career then. Even like before openings in mainframe also is not there...

Anyone are aware of this... Please reply... :?:

Some companies have chosen to use SAP. Some of these run on the mainframe, some elsewhere.

The vast majority of mainframe systems do not use SAP and currently do not plan to.

When one considers the billions of lines of program code along with very large amounts of JCL and utility control statements, i suspect the mainframe will be around for quite a while. The actual hardware and internals of the Operating System may change some, but the core of what is processed will take a long time to replace.

Depending on where you are geographically and where you intend to live in the future may result in more or fewer opportunities.
Have a good one
