need advise on career change

hello every one,
this is my first posting in MG. i am currntly working as mainframe console operator,i am thinking of switching over to other fields within mainframe.
i have DB2 DBA in my mind.
could someone help me whether it will be career promissing if i get switched to DB2 DBA ?
also please advise if anyone has any other role which could be career promissing..and growth.
