Split files into multiple files

Post by Adebalina » Wed Mar 30, 2011 5:55 pm

My input file has huge number of records, so need to split it into multiple files. But the total number of records in the input file is not known. Each output file can hold at max 10000 records. Please suggest the jcl using sort.

How many total output DD statements will you be accounting for in your JCL?

Anyway, for more information, see the "Five ways to split a data set" Smart DFSORT Trick at:

Also, see the "Split a file to n output files dynamically" Smart DFSORT Trick in the same document.
