Special Char ~ is not displayed in SYSOUT

Post by raulravi » Thu Mar 27, 2014 11:21 am

Hi,

I am trying to place a delimiter ~ in a Flat file as below:

Code: Select all

//S1    EXEC  PGM=SORT
//SYSOUT    DD  SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN DD *
EMP#          EMPNAME      EMPEXPER
111           AAAA         1
1112          BC           10
12            DBAC         2
/*
//SORTOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN    DD    *
  OPTION COPY
  INREC BUILD=(1,60,SQZ=(SHIFT=LEFT,MID=C'~'))
/*
When i look in to SYSOUT in browse mode its like this

Code: Select all

******************
EMP# EMPNAME EXPER
111 AAAA 10
1112 BC 20
12 DBAC 30
******************
But when i look into SYSOUT in edit mode its good

Code: Select all

****** ******************
000001 EMP#~EMPNAME~EXPER
000002 111~AAAA~10
000003 1112~BC~20
000004 12~DBAC~30
****** ******************
Apart from ~ , i have also tried with \,/,@ all of them worked good.

Can some one tell me what the reason behind the disappearance of ~ in browse mode?

Regards,
Raul

Possibly because of a code page difference?

This may have to do with your 3270 emulator software.

Is it possible that the tilde is not printable on that system?
Have a good one
