Ways on Reducing CSMI (Mirror Transaction) calls in CICS

Post by coolkat » Thu Mar 23, 2017 7:23 am

I am involved in an assessment where we are tying to minimize the usage of the CSMI Transaction. The CSMI Transaction invokes the IBM supplied utility program (DFHMIRS) for accessing the data across multiple regions. With my client, he has close to 12 AOR's and 3 FOR's defined and has close to 50% of his entire MIPS consumption spent on the CSMI Transaction. Enclosed the VSAM file usage stats for your reference,

The Top 3 VSAM files accessed alone accounts for close to 80% of the overall access happening on FOR's
For each of the above file (i.e) Top Three, Its only in 3 - 4 AOR's that these files have been accessed Heavily and it's Primarily Browse that happens and Browse to update ratio on these files is more than 98 %.
The updates (even though limited) happens across Multiple AOR's

Appreciate if someone could help me out on the ways to reduce the CSMI calls.
