THE POSITION
The County of San Bernardino is accepting applications for a Datacenter Administrator II* to maintain a variety of computer and datacenter systems for the Information Services Department. This position will design, deploy, monitor and maintain datacenter environmental systems such as critical power, cooling, and fire suppression in raised and non-raised floors in multiple datacenters. This position will also support a variety of computer related systems such as servers, switches, and storage devices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Datacenter Administrator II
Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post-high school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Sciences, Electronics, Engineering, or closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

AND

Experience: Three (3) years of work experience, within the past five (5) years, performing design, administration and operational support at the enterprise level in any of the following:
• Datacenter administration or engineering on equipment necessary to run a multi-tenant datacenter, including: power, cooling, fire suppression, seismic, security and monitoring.
• Administration of Intel based servers running Microsoft Server 2003/2008 operating systems, Linux operating systems, and VMware hypervisors in an enterprise architecture.
• Design and administration of enterprise IT system architecture, including: network load balancers, clustering, storage area network, network attached storage, storage based replication, and Disaster recovery environments.
An additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education. An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience may be considered.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Datacenter Administrator III
Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post-high school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Sciences, Electronics, Engineering, or closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

AND

Experience: Four (4) years of work experience, within the past five (5) years, performing design, administration and operational support at the enterprise level, which includes one (1) year of experience acting as a technical lead or project manager. Qualifying experience must be in one of the following areas: An additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education. An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience may be considered.
• Datacenter administration or engineering on equipment necessary to run a multi-tenant datacenter, including: power, cooling, fire suppression, seismic, security and monitoring.
• Administration of Intel based servers running Microsoft Server 2003/2008 operating systems, Linux operating systems, and VMware hypervisors in an enterprise architecture.
• Design and administration of enterprise IT system architecture, including: network load balancers, clustering, storage area network, network attached storage, storage based replication, and Disaster recovery environments.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in computer science. Knowledge of Mainview for IMS/DB2, ISPF, COBOL, ADF, BTS, DB2 connect, Shadow Direct, and full systems development life cycle. Experience with supporting application development teams using IMS and/or DB2.

SELECTION PROCESS
There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. The most highly qualified candidates, based on the results of the evaluation, may be referred to the department for a selection interview.
