pls help! jcl and record code

Post by qsc123 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 12:46 pm

hi

wat exactly is a record code/id ? and how is it used??

also i have a pgm with an input file. the input is validated and put in a second file. a sort descriptor is used to sort the validated records and put in another file. the sorted data is written into another new file in the form of a report.

am not able to figure out how the jcl should be for the above. can anyone pls help me out?

thanks in advance!

Hello,

Your question left to know a lot more.

1.
wat exactly is a record code/id ? and how is it used??
In what context did you hear about this, an indication about would help me/us to suggest something meaningful.

2.
also i have a pgm with an input file. the input is validated and put in a second file. a sort descriptor is used to sort the validated records and put in another file. the sorted data is written into another new file in the form of a report.
Is it a brand new program or you are modifyiong some existing program ?
Regards,
Anuj

hi

am not really sure wat is a record code/id. i was given the impression that when we ftp a file and want to verify whether all the contents have been ftped or some contents are lost during transfer can be checked with the help of it. it ll be great if u can clarify.

its a small report generation pgm that am doing. from scratch. and i dunno how to write a jcl for so many files.
