sub-program is a word used to define a position in an hierarchy.

CALLing program is a technical term referring to whether the program (module) invokes a CALL.

don't mix the terms.

In our shop, we do a search in production libraries.

If sub program name is SUBPROGB.
Take this string , go to 3.14
type this string & the production COBOL source library.

It will give you the calling programs which are using this called program/sub program.
