i dont have much knowledge on CA-7.

following are my best guess based on my knowledge on jobs.

RESUB - resubmit the job from starting.
RESTART - restart the job from the step where job has abended.

i gave only my first view on those commands.
i advise you to wait for expert advise on this CA-7 command.

RESTART parameter is used to use the job restart from where we want to restart the job it is not necesary that it is for abended step.

and no idea about RESUB parameter never heard and used in our production.

RESUB sounds like site specific term -- where did you hear about that and in what context? Please provide more description to get better reply(ies).

in the restart screen in ca7 we will have three options

1. Resubmit from production
2. Force Completed
3. Restart

1. Resubmit from production: If you select this option , job will be resubmitted from first step.

2. Force Complete: if you select this Ca7 will treat that job has completed & it will start next stream if any.

3. Restart: It allows you to restart a job from a particular step.
Thanks

Again it sounds like site-specific; I've CA-7 at my shop and no such option is available to me...fwiw.

Restart and resubmit are same provoided you specify the STEP NAME for the restart.
Below is the explaination that gives some what fare idea..
CA7 is having its own number for each abends ... which is called CA7#
if you select RESUBMIT FOR PRODUCTION in CA7... It (CA7) generates the new number and submits the job..(it is just another number for that job.. No need to worry about the job's run)

If you Select the RESTART.. the same NUMBER as that of the abended one is Reconsidered and the job is rerun...

Hope this helps you
Sachin
