How to copy 200 versions of GDG into a single file?

Any generation of a Generation Dataset can only have one version in existence, so your question doesn't make much sense. And I find it hard to understand why you'd want to ever copy 200 datasets at one time into another single dataset. Anyway, to copy 200 unique datasets, you have to specify 200 individual DD statements and either read them as a single file in a concatenated format, or individually if they needed to be processed in a specific manner (such as oldest to newest).

Is not referring to the GDG base as the DSName the same as concatenating all existing generations? Can't remember which ends up first and last, but if you want to do something as illogical as loading all generations into one file, does not really matter what order.

Dick- I'd guess the next follow-up question, "I've 255 generations but I want to copy only first (or last) 200"...

Anuj,

you have achieved a level of cynicism that surpasses my own.

Hi Dick,

the latest generation will be read first when referring to the GDG base only.

Anuj,

255 generations would have sounded better
