SORTD OUTREC Reformatting Query

I am wondering how I can perform the following formatting in my SORTD OUTREC string:

My input data is the following (HEX),

50501304
62140008


I want to expand this hex data in the output file to be in the following representation,

5602510410300048

Is such a re-format possible?

The following DFSORT job will do what I think you asked for:

Code:

//S1 EXEC PGM=ICEMAN
//SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN DD DSN=...  input file
//SORTOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN DD *
  OPTION COPY
  OUTREC FIELDS=(1,8,HEX)

If you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show you how to use DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols. You can access it online, along with all of the other DFSORT books, from:
