I have data like this:
If i encounter heading 1 i need to move the data to a separate file till i hit the heading 2. Then after heading 2 it should move to another file, and so on.
Also I need to remove header records (Heading n) from splitted files.
Is this possible in sort (without WHEN=GROUP function available with z/OS DFSORT V1R5 PTF UK90013 (July, 2008)) ?

How do you identify the heading records? Do they actually have 'Heading' in positions 1-7, or is there another way to identify them (how exactly)?
What is the RECFM and LRECL of the input file?
What is the maximum number of output files you expect to create (that is, what is n in your example)? What would the DD statement for one of these output files look like? _________________ Frank Yaeger - DFSORT Development Team (IBM) - email@example.com
