I'm not very sure what exactly this question is asking, if you are looking for basic stuff on IMS-- You might like to go through these links:

No universal solution can be suggested via a Forum -- that would depend and change JOB to JOB.

Hi Mansha,

You're welcome . . . Smile.

Please avoid using "short forms" on a Technical Forum like this -- not every one is familiar of those terms which you use.

Are you, in real, talking about Information Management System; IBM licensed product. The IMS, which supports hierarchical databases, data communication, translation processing, and database backout and recovery. Synonym for IMS/VS. . . Confused

AFAIU, This has no meaning -- being an application Enginner, you don't do this. DB is installed at your shop and you use it using DL/I command along with some host language (e.g.:COBOL). DL/I stands for Data Language/ First.

No such log-in is required in case of IMS/DB. Instead you use DFSRRC00 to "call" Your IMS DB programs -- DFSRRC00 is called as IMS in Batch.

In case of IMS DC programs -- you have "online screens", where you need to "log-in", as you asked. But this log-in is related to screen and has nothing to do with IMS which is sitting in back-end.
