Please someone explain the concepts of certifications

Post by MrSpock » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:06 am

I keep seeing the topics about certification for this and certification for that over and over again. There seem to be books and study guides and test questions available for many of these certifications. So, what is the overall benefit? Surely if you've worked in a certain discipline long enough, then I can't help but think that you'd pretty much know all there is to know about that topic. I can see where you might then pursue a certification as an acknowledgement from the industry that you possess the skills necessary for that role. Why would all of these study materials and test exams and so on be necessary?

There are places that will not hire you to a position without the certificate.

but, most probably, anyone who makes money from helping people obtain the certification
has littered the road with their bullshit propaganda in order to make a buck.

JCL, SQL and code in programs have an irritating habit of doing what you say,
not what you meant.

In my view certification exams, helps new learners , by forcing them to read
all topic about that subject.

It help the organizations , who is conducting exams and providing materils and giving training, to gain more bucks out of this process.
