I have the below requirement. I need to append date and time to a dataset and need to refer the dataset again. I used EZACFSM1 to append the date and time, it is working but the problem is i am not able to access the new file name. STEP0300 i used IEBGENER for testing to access the new dataset. If this step is fine, i will replace it with printer step
I dont want to use DLM or submit a new job using INTRDR. I went thru the forum and I found one related to this, but user did not mention how it was resolved. The requirement is to do in a single job. Pls advise. _________________ Many Thanks!
I think you need to re-design your process and not head down a path that will make your job violate the basic constructs of JCL and how it's interpreted and processed in JES. As it stands now the job will fail with a JCL error.
I don't know anything about your systems, your standards, or anything else about your site. I've never understood why anyone would want to catalog and retain datasets with date/time stamps. I don't know why you're not using your job scheduling system to handle this process. I don't know whay you need the accuracy of the timestamp down to the seconds.
Can't you pass these details into your job before you submit it from an external source using the SET statement?
Anyway, if this is absolutely necessary, all you can do is move the processing steps out of the JCL and into a program. You'll have to write a program that will determine the values for the date and time variables. Then it can either allocate the dataset using those variables, call TSO or IDCAMS and use the ALTER command as you have shown, or whatever other process you might want to use. However, this program is going to have to be able to do whatever it is you want to do with the dataset from your STEP0030 on down.
