Need Advice on Specialisation !!!!

Hello All,

I have been working as console & batch operator for quite some time now & am now looking to make a change in my career.Iam looking to move into the systems side of mainframes.
Iam planning for mainframe db2 (Systems Side) .However I have been adviced that it would be good if I were to do a general system administration course & then go in for a specialistation Like cics,db2 or storage.Now i really need to know whether i would be at a disadvantage if I were to go in for a DB2 system administration course directly with out having done the MVS administration.Also since i dont have any relevant experience in any of these fields from systems side which one of them (CICS,DB2,storage & MVS) would be a better option to start off with considering job placements.
Topics for MVS administration are : z/os initialisation,system datasets,db2,mq& CICS admin,rac,smp/e,jes2,uss,sysplex,communication,storage & wlm.

Also i need to know that would doing a mainframe MVS sys admin course be still advisable if were planning to move into CICS or Storage.

Kindly advice as iam not able to make up my mind.

Where do you plan to do the courses from?
