What is Profile Name ??? on the EDIT Entry Panel of TSO

Post by AKumar12 » Mon Feb 13, 2006 3:16 pm

Hi All,

I need to know what is the use of Profile Name in the EDIT Entry Panel, when we open a Data Set?

I came accross very intresting fact :
I downloaded a very large file in a PS and tried opening it, by mistake I pressed a key (L) or any key in the Profile Name for that PS. Now I am unable to use the option find funtion ( Eg. F STRUK, system did not located STRUK, while I can find the same manually ) where as the particular item is availiable in the file. Also I found some other data descrepancy when we enter some thing in the Profile Name. Like some part of data is missing.

Please can anybody tell me why is this happening?

Regards,
Arvind...

Tso profile

Hi Kumar,

Use PROFILE command inside the PS to now more about current active profile. This new profile setting must be different from the default
profile. Check initial macro value also.

Thanks,
Prasad.

...this profile you are asking about is part of ISPF/PDF Editor... ...you get default settings and you can change them if you like... ...what do you see using Browse?... ...did you use IND$FILE to transfer the data to a workstation?... ...RECFM and LRECL are critical in some cases...

...make sure you do not get this "profile" confused with TSO PROFILE which controls your settings for your TSO LOGON like "tso profile noprefix"...
