SMS compress attrib

Post by Haminator » Mon Feb 14, 2011 3:05 am

i have a file on that states " SMS Compressible" YES, and if i allocate another it also is defined with this attrib; on another system they always have " SMS Compressible" NO.... the parm in the dataclas is "TCOM" ie SAM data sets are compressed using Tailored dictionaries overriding SYS1.PARMLIB.

i am trying to fond out what this attrib actually does and how much compression is applied; i have figures but the don't make sense -

SMS Compressible YES ; 65 cylinders records 00274666 - SMS Compressible NO 18,000 cylinders records 00264651 ...
