In the above JCL Input2.pds.file(memb2)is a dummy DSN and it does not contain any value. As it is an empty DSN I can not get the desired output i.e. the data from the memb1 is not getting updated in the MEMB3. Anyway I am getting maxcc=0 but when viewed the memb3 it is not updated.
without having the memb2 can we able to update the memb3 by considering the data from memb1 alone?
or any other simple logic to update memb3 with the data of memb1?.

A pds(member) is NOT a "dummy DSN". If you are unwilling or unable to use correct terminology and do not post the diagnostic/informational messages, it will be quite difficult to help you. _________________ Have a good one
What happened when you tried? I will compare your results against mine.
No error when submitted the JCL.I got Maxcc =0. But when I went and manually viewed the output PDS i.e memb3 it is not updated with the data from memb1.
Note: my memb2 is an empty dataset contains no value

Well. when I tried a concatention of a member with data in it and a member that had had the data deleted from it my output member was created with the data from my first member. It should also provide the same result if I concatenate the members the other way round. If you ran the job whilst in the PDS and you looked for the new member you would have to do a refresh of the member list to have the new member show up. _________________ Regards
