I am trying to figure out how to write code for having REXX go out and check if a list of jobs have run, i have taken some basic tutorials on REXX coding but have not seen any commands that pass a command to another area (such as CA7 or SAR) wondering if anyone has this built or can push me in the right direction. Any advice is appreciated. what i have found out so far is addressing SAR/CA-view. but i know this isnt complete:
/* REXX */
ADDRESS XPVIEW /*not sure why its XPVIEW but it seems to be all i could find */
XPVIEW.DBASE = 'XXX.VIEWDB03' /*the SAR db i am trying to look into, minus the XXX of course */
'LIST GEN=* ID=MYJOB123
Now what i want is just the last run date so i wasnt sure if i should leave GEN with an '*' or change it but if i put the current date in it might have completed yesterday. The next issue i am looking at is with just these pieces is the REXX exec going to bring me back a response?
understood, i dont think it so much an issue with CA as i am just not very familiar with coding in REXX. I have other REXX execs that will go out to SAR and pull the whole job output and save them to a DSN for me. But i didnt write that and the guy that did has been gone for a while. what i am trying to do is get :
Sel Sysout ID Jobname Jobid Arch Date Time Loc Lines Pages Xcode
==> C12R0166 * * * * * * * *
C12R0166 C12R0166 JOB15826 04/20/2013 04:06 PERM 325 4
For about 900 jobs, i just want it to come back and tell me the last completed date and have it list me about 50 jobs at a time so i can quickly just see them all. but it seems like its a pretty big issue, and i dont know what commands to use

I get where you are coming from, i was just hoping to get maybe a few more eyes on this as its not as big a field as others. I did receive good advice from both forums and am in a better place then when i started so i cant say i feel bad about posting on both.
