I have two input files [F1 & F2 - Length - 1300].
Each record in F1 has a corresponding record in F2 in the same position.
F1 has a security key as an unique identifier, but F2 doesnt have any such identifier.
So I wanna copy the security key[Fields 4 to 12] from F1 & the contents of F2[Fields 1 to 1300] into a new output file F3.
Please provide a solution to implement this in JCL.
Which SORT product do you have? Does it support JNFnCNTL for JOINKEYS? If so it is a simple JOINKEYS on a sequence number that you add temporarily to each record. In this case, you can build your output record direcfly with the REFORMAT statement.

You still have not posted which sort product you are using and what level it is at. Without this information an accurate answer cannot be given as the control cards require will differ from sort product to sort product and depending on the level of the sort product. _________________ Regards
