Hi,

I'd like to seek for your help on a scenario we currently encounter on our shop. This is a general question for the DFSORT application.

We just upgraded to DFSORT 2.1 on z.OS 2.1 a few months ago and is aware on the changes on the default parameters for EXPOLD and EXPRES. Since the upgrade, some of our production jobs, which are also running with FOCUS steps are failing with U0046.

We have tried some workarounds:

1.) Use the DD statement SZZZWK0* instead of SORTWK0* - this runs OK, but only doing this for a short period of time, say when trying to rerun the failed job. What's confusing me is the fact that SORTWK0* is fine when we're still running on an earlier z/OS version.

- What exactly is the difference of the SZZZWK0* and SORTWK*? I've been researching about this SZZZ statement but as you may already figured, got no good results.
- Would you suggest this approach as a permanent fix? Or is this a better option so we don't need to the mass-code-change?

2.) Another option i've read is to revert back the values of EXPOLD and EXPRES to the default values in the earlier versions. But we're considering this as the last resort.

Thanks. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts.

I'd suggest contacting the DFSORT people at IBM. Include examples of the steps before/after and both working and failig. dfsort@us.ibm.com
