Job Details : Our client\'s mainframe support team is looking for a senior systems programmer with extensive knowledge of the IBM mainframe environment.
This position will be a key team member in providing high availability and reliability of the system components and associated IBM and 3rd party software.
Strong focus on DB2, z/OS, CICS, networking and capacity/performance management is necessary to ensure the business applications meet or exceed requirements of the mainframe system

this is both breadth and depth of knowledge in those major system areas. Knowledge of 3rd party products from vendors ASG and BMC is important as well. This role provide technical support and assistance for our Mainframe Enterprise Server hardware, systems software and the supporting applications to ensure business needs are met and associated hardware components function properly to ensure high availability.

Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and monitor Enterprise Server software products and tools

Provide Subject Matter Expert support to projects for Mainframe related activities

Support hardware and connectivity components to ensure availability and reliability targets are met

Provide incident management on issues covering mainframe system software and hardware

Provide effort and duration estimates for projects and review schedules, costs and documentation to ensure success of projects.

Prepare documentation and/or training material on software uses or operating instructions for other groups
Design and plan major upgrades and changes to the Mainframe system environment •Adhere to formalized process methodologies and their associated instructions such as Change Management

Work with hardware and software vendors on issues and enhancements


Qualifications: Ten years (10+) as a System Programmer possessing IBM mainframe technical skills required

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with all: z/OS, TSO/ISPF, Cobol, DB2, CICS, JCL, CLIST/REXX in mainframe environment required

Three years (3+) years experience with Mainframe performance management tools including BMC Mainview required •experience using debugging tools, reporting and systems management tools required •Knowledge of insurance industry practices required •Proven ability to communicate technical details to all levels of audience required •Expert knowledge of software installation and components in a mainframe environment required •Knowledge of Mainframe hardware configurations and installations required Job Conditions: • This job requires the ability to use desktop computers and must be available to work outside of core schedule
